    Hi All,

I have a 67 997cc estate where the haynes manual states the front wheel bearings should be torqued to 30 pounds then slackened by two castleations. This setting gives some play so reducing to one castleation takes up the play but the hub does seem to get quite warm rather than hot.

If the bearings are shot does the owners club stock these.

    Thanks

I wouldn’t do it that way. The way to tighten the bearing nut is to hold a 15/16″ AF socket in your hand, and with the wheel spinning, tighten the nut as much as you can by hand only. If the split pin slot aligns with a hole, insert the pin; if one doesn’t, back the nut off slightly until the first time there is alignment. A small amount of play in these bearings is acceptable; running with them slightly tight pre-loads the bearing and is not acceptable.
