Fuel pump – how to replace valves?

Hi All,

I have a fuel pump repair kit and would like to know how to replace the two small circular valves in the top half of the pump body.

They look pressed in.

Do I just “butcher” the old ones out and carefully press the new ones in?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi Chris,
If I remember rightly each valve is secured by being locked in by the edge of the recess being tapped over on three or four points on the lip of each non return valve. clean these and the valves should come out with slight levering they are a push interference fit.
do one at a time so as not to get them the wrong way round, one goes one way the other is reversed if that makes sense. Then just tap the rims over to “lock them in”.

I’d have flung the old pump away and fitted a new one :)

Have to admit, always replaced the entire thing. I’m not one for faffing about, time is money apparently!!!

I’m in area 1 (Scotland) m8, can’t really get more north club wise !

Too much money?? I live in carrot cruncher/turnip muncher land there aint no money here….

Anyways, when my stock of new pumps runs out, maybe I will be using kits… :lol:
