After the snow finaly decides to bugger off and the sun comes out,im wanting to lower my estate and fit my lotus steels to it-
Im wondering if any of you with experiance of this could suggest the best amount to lower the rear (as i see there is various different sized blocks available) and also what is the best width of tyre to put on my lotus steels so they dont get caught in the arches after being lowered or on full lock at the front.
Is the best way of lowering the front just to cut off a rung of the spring or is there lowering springs availabe??
Car still has lever arms and normal struts fitted.
Thanks AJ.April 5, 2010 at 7:42 am #23313@Aly Johnson wrote:

Thanks AJ.Hi Aly
My estate rear end is lowered by 2″ using blocks, it’s fine if you are on nice smooth roads but we live in Scotland…
I am thinking about changing them to 1 1/2 blocks. I am currently using the standard lever arms at the back and have fitted cut down bump stops. I have an old spax kit to try on the rear first.
Front end is standard struts that have been converted to 2 1/4″ coilovers by GAZ. This allows me to set my ride height and opens up a choice of spring rates. I was using 200lb springs but they were way to harsh for me. I have now swapped to 150lb springs but am yet to try it as the car is in bits at the moment.
I have a disk brake conversion on the front as well.
I am using 185/60 x 13 tyres on my lotus steels. 1″ spacers on the rear to increase the track a bit and 9mm spacers on the front (for the disk brake coversion)
Jope this helps
Here is a pics of the car showing the ride height with 2″ blocks.
