    Hi there!! Can anyone advise me what the radial free movement of the steering wheel is?? Mines about 2″ which seems a bit excessive!! Its my first Anglia so Im not really up to speed with all the little quirks!!!

    After checking for play in the trackrods, & swivels, you come back to the Steering box which is Definitely Quirky.. See the workshop manual under technical on this site for full details. …. if the 4 bolts on the top come loose the steering comes very loose too, so they have lock tabs. There are a sets of square metal shims in the steering box designed to be removed one by one to take out wear perhaps one per 40,000 miles? , Sometimes removing one makes the box too tight & then I replace it with a thinner paper gasket. I have only removed the ones under the top , which can be done with the box in the car.
