Hello just wondering did you order the right brackets for the escort brake calipers as I see they are different for the Nissan Micra calipers as they use both ?. I recently worked on an Anglia with a disc brake conversion & if fitted well just a thought. ??

Just another thought have you removed & cleaned the fuel tank ?. I had a problem a couple of years ago when an Anglia kept cutting out I removed the fuel tank only to find a plastic bag in the tank so must of kept getting sucked up now & again. Cured the problem.?November 20, 2017 at 8:34 am in reply to: Shuddering, lurching then stalling in 3rd and 4th gear #57025
Hello Philip did it run ok before you made all the changes ?. Being a late 1966 Anglia are you sure it wasn’t a ballast resister system previously ?. I had a similar problem with an Anglia recently. The car was originally aballast resister system but somebody had fitted a standard coil this was fitted the wrong way around firstly. What I found the car would not rev under load. I see you have fitted an electronic distributor you may find out you are not getting enough power to the distributor as the ballast system has a reduced voltage. What I did was fitted a Lucas distributor of an earlier Anglia & cut out the ballast resister wire which was faulty. Was the new distributor for a positive earth vehicle or a negative earth vehicle as I believe they are different. Have you got the wires the right way round if you have changed the polarity . It caused me ours scratching my head. Does the car rev in when stationary ? or does it have a bad flat spot ?. What I would do is check the voltage from your ignition switch to the distributor because it could be only around 9 volts as originally it would only have 12 volts on cranking if it had a ballast system. I hope this is of help it may not be your problem but its worth checking atb Andy.??
